Over 100 students from across Europe visited Guernsey this summer to improve their English with Accent’s Summer School. A wide range of exciting programmes throughout the summer were offered combining classroom teaching with activities such as surfing, go-karting and visits to Herm.
‘The students have all had a fantastic time,’ says Anna Lisa Detassis, Director of Accent. ‘Not only are they being taught by native speakers, but they are also experiencing local culture at first-hand. They frequently have the opportunity to practise their English with host families and with each other.’
As well as giving visiting students a summer to remember, Accent also gave local children the chance to join in with their Guernsey based activity programme. This meant that local and foreign students were able to come together, make new friends and improve their language skills.
Anna Lisa acquired Accent in June earlier this year and has since been working on the growth and development of the Summer School. ‘Our programmes are structured so that students can enjoy everything that Guernsey has to offer, as well as making the most out of our fun packed lessons,’ she explains.
‘Students are always delighted with how much how they have learnt in such a short space of time. We would also like to thank the host families who have been so incredibly helpful.’
It has been an exciting summer for Accent and the team are looking forward to welcoming more students throughout the rest of the year.
