Appleby continues to strengthen its Corporate & Commercial and Litigation & Insolvency groups in Guernsey with the addition of six new appointments since July 2012 reflecting Appleby’s continued growth in Guernsey.
In August 2012, Advocate Gemma Campbell joined Appleby as an Associate in the Corporate & Commercial group. With seven years experience in the Guernsey market, Gemma advises on all aspects of corporate and commercial law, including the establishment and restructuring of funds, debt and equity listings, mergers and acquisitions and banking and finance.
In October 2012, Jeremy Berchem joined in the role of Counsel. In addition to Jeremy’s Guernsey (and Jersey) experience in banking and finance law, Jeremy has many years banking experience in the UK having worked for Travers Smith in London and Dickinson Dees in Newcastle.
Joel Taylor is another to join the corporate and commercial group recently. Joel has spent the last ten years advising on Guernsey law with a focus on banking and finance matters and investment funds; particularly property, debt and private equity funds and corporate transactions. Before moving to Guernsey in 2001 Joel worked for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
The Litigation & Insolvency group also has three new members.
In July 2012, John MacDonald joined as an Associate in the Litigation & Insolvency group. John previously worked at Eversheds in London in their Financial Services Dispute Resolution team and whilst there was also seconded to HSBC in Canary Wharf in London in the Global Banking and Markets litigation team. John has experience of financial services and commercial litigation as well as fraud and white collar criminal law.
In October 2012, Advocate Anthony Williams joined Appleby in the role of Senior Associate in the Litigation & Insolvency group. Anthony previously worked at another Channel Islands law firm as well as at a boutique law firm in Australia. Anthony has significant experience in many areas of corporate litigation and dispute resolution and has a particular expertise in high value and complex commercial litigation, with particular focus on investment fund disputes, multi-jurisdictional claims, asset tracing and recovery, and trust litigation.
In addition, Daisy Boutler has joined as an Associate on secondment to the Litigation & Insolvency department. Daisy is a barrister at 3 Stone Buildings in London and has experience across a broad range of work in the commercial and chancery fields, including company, partnership and insolvency law, civil fraud, contractual disputes, trusts, contentious probate and Inheritance Act claims.
