Arts Sunday – Final Call for All Creatives

| May 23, 2014 | 0 Comments

Arts Sunday is fast approaching and all creative individuals and organisations are invited to take part by taking a stall, performing or engaging the public in some way. Last year’s Arts Sunday on St Peter Port’s seafront had over 9,500 visitors, so this year organisers are hoping to draw over 10,000 people.

Guernsey Arts Commission has already had a great response from the call out to past stall holders, with past participants returning and a host of new stalls. We want to break the record from last year so we are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved, including you!

WHAT IS ARTS SUNDAY?
The island is blessed with many talented artists, musicians and organisations, emanating from across the breadth of the arts. Arts Sunday is a fun, relaxed and inclusive community event for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy and participate in the arts in Guernsey. The Arts Sunday committee works very hard, in their own time, to try and put on the best possible event that all of Guernsey will love and return to year after year. It’s a community event and the aim is to bring people together and have a taste of an array of glorious things within the arts.

The event is to be held along the entire Town seafront in St Peter Port, running from the Town church along to the Liberation monument and incorporating the Crown pier. The event will run from 10am until 5pm. Expect to see:

  • Arts’ Market: Full of stalls, workshops and demos
  • Live Music: Across 2 stages
  • Theatre stage
  • Dance stage
  • Street art: Including graffiti artists, chalk drawings and much more
  • Poetry & Literature
  • Public Art

WHAT’S ON?
Some tremendous musical acts are lined up for the day so far, not to mention the amazing dance, theatre and comedy groups performing. There will be a constant flow of entertainment all day to suit everyone’s needs.

Many people are already in touch about having a stall at Arts Sunday. The list is ever growing but expect to see dance schools, arts and crafts, paintings, textiles, greeting cards, illustrations, jewellery, face painting, photography, decorate your own cake, ornaments, home fabrics, ceramics, graphic designers, handmade home items, clothing, original artwork, a pottery wheel, the Sarnia Woodturning Group and the list goes on!
