The Auberge in St Martins has been announced amongst the celebrated culinary establishments to feature in the Michelin Guide to Britain and Ireland 2014.
This is the first time the popular Guernsey restaurant, which was acquired by Liberation Group earlier this year, has featured in the prestigious publication. Produced annually, the Michelin Guide is widely considered to be the most well respected reference guide for restaurants and hotels and the Auberge is in good company appearing alongside just four other top Guernsey restaurants with a 2 forks and spoons rating.
Ben Vispalie, Restaurant Manager at the Auberge is thrilled with the acknowledgement, ‘To have achieved a listing in the revered Michelin Guide is fantastic and testament to the great team we have here, not least our head chef, Daniel Green who is always striving for innovation. In the current climate, we need to work harder than ever to come up with fresh ideas and menus and we’re extremely proud that our efforts have been recognised by such a highly regarded publication.’
From its cliff top position, the Auberge is renowned for its spectacular views across to the neighbouring Channel Islands and its modern cuisine, which focuses on seasonal, good quality, local produce. Head Chef, Daniel Green, has been at the restaurant since 2004, during which time the Auberge has achieved a two rosette rating with the AA as well as being listed in the Good Food Guide for six years running. Most recently Daniel won the Channel Islands Chef of the Year Award 2013.
The restaurant is one of six well known Channel Islands pubs and eateries acquired by Liberation Group from Lapwing earlier this year. Kenrick Brooks, Operations Director at Liberation Group commented, ‘We’re delighted to see the Auberge enjoying such success and are confident that the team will continue to build upon the excellent reputation they have worked hard to establish.’
