The Citywealth Magic Circle Awards took place last night at the luxury Grange St Paul’s Hotel in the City of London, bringing together over 400 of the financial world’s top wealth advisors and private client experts. Hosted by former politician and bestselling author Lord Archer, this awards ceremony is rapidly gaining a reputation as the Oscars of the financial world. Lord Archer, who has sold over 270 million books worldwide and has raised a staggering £41million through his work as a charity auctioneer, entertained the audience with a very witty and inspiring speech. Money was raised for Wellbeing of Women, a charity headed by Sir Marcus Setchell, former surgeon-gynaecologist to the Royal Household, who delivered baby Prince George. Cetuem Cosmetics together with four beauty queens showed their support for the charity by donating a large hamper of beauty products worth £500
A total of 31 awards were announced – the winning companies and individuals having been selected for their outstanding performance by 12,500 voters and 12 judges within the wealth management sector.
The Channel Islands once again scooped a large number of awards, such as
- Ogier Legal voted the International Law Firm of the Year, with Bedell Cristin the runner-up
- Hawksford – Trust Company of the Year, Non Institutional, runner up Bedell Cristin
- Philip Le Cornu , Ogier Private Wealth – Trustee of the Year, runner up Andrew Penney, Rothschild Trust
- Karen Cleal, Opus Private – Editor’s Choice Award
These awards, now in their ninth year, were created by the dynamic Karen Jones, founder and CEO of Citywealth, who was much applauded for her tireless service to the wealth management industry. Wearing a splendid Rachel Elbaz Couture evening gown, she effortlessly added a touch of feminine glamour to the male dominated world of high finance.
