AWARD winning UK jazz saxophonist, Simon Spillett, will be performing in Guernsey this summer to help raise money for the Saumarez Park Playground Appeal.
Simon Spillett is recognised as one of the most distinctive saxophonists on the UK jazz scene, appearing at famed venues such as Ronnie Scott’s club in London and at major jazz festivals from Birmingham to Brecon. He has recorded a number of critically celebrated albums and broadcasted with his own band on BBC Radio 3.
His album ‘Square One’ was voted among the Best New Jazz releases of 2013 in the Jazz Journal Critic’s Poll.
Simon’s performance, which will be supported by local jazz talent, is sponsored by Butterfield Bank.
“I’m delighted to make a return visit to Guernsey, especially to support a very worthy cause,” said Simon Spillett.
“The last time I came over I had a really great gig and received a very nice reception from the audiences I played to. It will be a great pleasure to again perform with some of the island’s best jazz players – I hope that jazz fans will have equal pleasure in listening to us.”
