The Guernsey Sports Commission will be hosting its annual Brooks Macdonald High Performance & Coaching Conference November 22-24 headlined by double Olympian and journalist Matthew Syed. Matthew is also the author of Bounce, a multiple award winning book described as a ‘must read for anyone interested in the science of success, and the mindset and culture that support it’.
The purpose of the conference is to support the Islands’ sporting community with a particular emphasis on coaching and developing our existing sportsmen and women, as well as those of the future. The conference will achieve this through targeted workshops for coaches, athletes, parents, local journalists and sports administrators.
Jeremy Frith, Director of the Brooks Macdonald High Performance Programme for the Sports Commission said ‘We are very excited to have secured Matthew, and he, in turn, is delighted to work with us as part of the conference. We jointly believe that he is in an ideal position to deliver a message that is highly relevant to all coaches, athletes and parents on the Island as well as those working outside of sport in education and business.’
‘Matthew’s experiences as an athlete and a journalist will I am sure help outline why Guernsey punches above its weight, but also how by working together the Island can put on weight and punch higher and harder still.’
