Carey Olsen donates to Teenage Cancer Trust

Carey Olsen’s charities committee has donated a range of entertainment systems via the Teenage Cancer Trust to provide welcome entertainment to young patients during hospital visits.

Members of the committee presented staff at Frossard Ward and Bulstrode House with portable DVD players, DVDs, music players, headphones and console games.

Tom Carey, partner, said that treatment for local teenagers who have cancer is lengthy but thankfully much of the treatment can be done in Guernsey.

“Teenage Cancer Trust is a very important charity to local families who are affected by cancer and it carries out a raft of excellent work. Our aim was to assist them in providing some entertainment for teens at the hospital, which was age-appropriate, so they can pass the time while they are receiving treatment.”

Anne Ruddy, from Teenage Cancer Trust, said: “Teenage Cancer Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer. The equipment Carey Olsen has donated will help teenagers on Frossard Ward and at Bulstrode House take their minds off the gruelling treatment they are going through.”

Teenage Cancer Trust is one of Carey Olsen’s two nominated charities for 2012 and 2013 chosen by the firm’s staff.
