Cimandis achieves high-level accreditation
Guernsey News, 10 November 2009 – Cimandis have achieved two industry standards after a string of intense audits investigating the whole process of food production, storage and delivery across Jersey and Guernsey.
Since May 2009, sectors of Cimandis including Russell Meats, Foodservice, and CI and Warry’s Bakeries, have undergone stringent assessments by industry professionals resulting in their retention of the BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standard and the Higher Level Certification for the Wholesale and Distribution Standard from CMi.
This is a great accolade for the Channel Island business. They are not required by law to reach these standards but they do so to attract the best brands and suppliers to the islands. The retention of the tough accreditations will mean that Cimandis will continue to attract suppliers from all over the world and they are greatly exceeding all current required foodservice standards.
Cimandis Bakery and Butchery operation have been awarded the BRC Accreditation.
To achieve this the assessor had to ensure the quality and safety of products that were produced and distributed by Cimandis. They were impressed by the companies use of internationally recognised control procedures primarily HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) as well as the full traceability of goods, supplier approval procedures, training of personnel, control of operations, and product control analysis.
Being a member of the Country Range Group, Cimandis are required to meet CMi guidelines and standards. CMi is one of the largest independent consulting, certification and inspection companies in the food, and drink industry. In gaining Higher Certification, Cimandis customers have the reassurance that their supplier is meeting the highest standards in food safety and production.
Paddy Bulch, Quality Assurance Manager, Cimandis, said:
‘Essentially the CMi accreditation represents our ability to comply with a wholesale and distribution standard which covers every aspect of quality and food safety management. It’s a very thorough and in-depth process and quite an accolade for us to retain the Higher Level Certification. The BRC Standard is also extremely important to us and our customers, even though it is currently not a requirement by law. Staff at all levels across Cimandis in Jersey and Guernsey have worked extremely hard to achieve these accolades and it is proof of the high standards which we foster across the whole company.’
