COBO will start its transformation into an outdoor cinema on Monday ready for the start of Sure Big Screen on Tuesday.
The mobile screen, which measures 12sq.m, is due to arrive in the island on Monday afternoon and will be positioned on the common at Cobo.
‘We want to make it as real a cinema experience as we possibly can while of course being considerate to those people who live in the area or who want to relax on the beach. The films that we have lined up will look fantastic on the big screen and we’re looking forward to seeing as many islanders as possible,’ said Sure’s marketing and PR manager Jess Bisson.
Sure Big Screen will once again see seven days of big screen action with comedies, animations, thrillers and classics all on the line up. From Tuesday to Bank Holiday Monday, there will be three films shown each day.
‘Our customers can be as young as eight or nine and as old as in their nineties and so we want to make sure that the Sure Big Screen line up has something for everyone. This is our flagship community event and one that we have had a long-standing commitment to as we know how well-loved it is. It’s always a pleasure to see so many islanders enjoying the Sure Big Screen experience,’ said Miss Bisson.
As well as the films, there will be giveaways including Sure merchandise and popcorn. On Thursday, Coca-Cola will have its Share a Coke unit at the 5.15pm and 7.30pm showings where islanders can have a bottle of coke branded with their own names.
‘We delighted that such a long-established brand like Coca Cola has asked to be part of Sure Big Screen and we’re sure that it will attract even more people down who can stay and watch Avengers Assemble at 5.15pm or I Give It a Year at 7.30pm,’ said Miss Bisson.
Films being shown this year also include Ice Age 4, Madagascar 3, Wreck it Ralph and Hotel Transylvania for children, family favourites including Men in Black III, Life of Pi and Jaws and 2012 hits Skyfall, Hitchcock and Les Miserables.
‘The films have been carefully selected so that the first viewing is always something suitable for younger children, the teatime showing is for families and the evening film is for teenagers and adults. We want people to come down with their friends and family, bring a picnic and have fun,’ said Miss Bisson.
