Doctors paintings raise funds for Les Bourgs Hospice
PAINTINGS by a Guernsey doctor have raised hundreds of pounds for Les Bourgs Hospice.
Petra Palmeri, who is a doctor at Cobo Healthcare Centre, paints using oils and pastels and specialises in still-life and Guernsey cows. Her work is displayed in the surgery waiting room and she gives 30% of every sale of the originals and the prints to Les Bourgs Hospice.
‘They do such a brilliant job and I am delighted that I can help. I go there to see my patients and so have first-hand experience of the amazing support they give to the island,’ said Dr Palmeri.
In 2011 she raised £700 and in 2012 a further £750 and will continue to give a proportion of sales to Les Bourgs during 2013. Dr Palmeri is planning to paint a winter scene of Les Bourgs in the snow to use on a Christmas card which will raise additional funds. The original painting will be donated to Les Bourgs Hospice as well.
‘We want to thank Dr Palmeri for all her support. She is very talented and we are delighted that we can benefit from her efforts. We’re looking forward to seeing the painting of Les Bourgs in the snow on the Christmas cards, which we know will be popular with all of our invaluable supporters,’ said fundraising administrator Trish de la Mare.
