GUERNSEY CHIEF MINISTER WILL ADDRESS BUSINESS CELEBRATION
Guernsey News, 11 November 2009 – BUSINESS and politics will mix at the sell-out Guernsey Chamber of Commerce annual dinner later this month.
Billed as a celebration of Guernsey business, the dinner at St James will feature a keynote speech from Chief Minister Lyndon Trott and an after dinner speech from the Deputy Chief Executive of the States, Nigel Lewis.
The Lieutenant Governor, Sir Fabian Malbon, and Lady Malbon, and the Bailiff, Sir Geoffrey Rowland and Lady Rowland are among Chamber’s guests.
The evening will start with a drinks reception at the Royal Court building, sponsored by Kleinwort Benson.
Chamber president Paul Luxon said: “The combined venues of the Royal Court and St James twin very effectively for the one formal dinner of the Chamber calendar and we look forward to returning there after our larger 200th anniversary event at Beau Sejour last year.
“While business conditions remain challenging for all of us, there’s still a lot to celebrate and a good part of the evening will be given over to relaxing in good company amongst our business colleagues.
The dinner, sponsored by law firm Babbé, will precede the presentations of the Bill Green Award, for enterprise in business, and the Anvil Award, to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the work of Chamber.
Of the guest speakers Mr Luxon said: “The business community has made its voice heard loud and clear over recent issues facing Guernsey’s future and therefore I am pleased that Deputy Trott has agreed to address us on this occasion. Mr Lewis has proved a very entertaining after dinner speaker on previous occasions and we look forward to what he will bring to the event in his own inimitable style.”
The third sponsor partnering Chamber for this year’s dinner is Thomas Bucktrout.Flagship.
