Choirs from the Guernsey Music Centre will join the Guernsey Choral and Orchestral Society on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December to present John Rutter’s ‘Mass of the Children’.
This beautiful work is scored for adult mixed choir, children’s choir, soprano and baritone soloists and orchestra, and the children’s choir plays a central role. The soloists are local singers Deborah Bideau and Casey-Joe Rumens.
The second half of the evening follows a Christmas theme, with new and familiar carols and music, including carols written by local composer, Chris Claxton. The orchestra will entertain with the March, Trepak and Waltz of the Flowers from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Carol Fantasia by John Fox and White Christmas by Irving Berlin.
The audience is invited to join the GCOS to sing some well-loved carols.
Conductors Helen Grand, Rachel Wright and Michael Sullivan will lead this impressive programme of choral and orchestral music: a wonderful introduction to the Christmas Festival, kindly sponsored by DHL Express.
