The Guernsey Dressage Group held their first competition of the season over this past weekend. There were over 45 competitors who took part, of all ages; under 16s through over 50’s. They rode 27 different tests which ranged in difficulty from preliminary level through Advanced Medium. Results and Qualifiers can be found on the BSJA website; http://www.bsguernsey.co.uk/dressage
Ms Claire Ballantyne, the British Dressage qualified judge brought over for the competition said, ‘This is my first time in Guernsey and I am very impressed; it’s been absolutely lovely. The venue is beautiful, the competition has had first class organisation, the people are enormously friendly and the quality of riders very high. Best of all the enthusiasm for the sport bodes well for Guernsey in fostering many talented riders’
There will be five further competitions planned this year with high calibre British Dressage test judges planned. This will help in strengthening the island’s dressage competitor capabilities.
The next competition will be held on March 29th/30th and it will be held at the BSJA showground at Chemin le Roi. More information can be found on www.bsguernsey.co.uk
