Fiona Le Poidevin, Chief Executive of Guernsey Finance – the promotional agency for the Island’s finance industry internationally, commenting on the resignation of Guernsey’s Chief Minister, Deputy Peter Harwood, said:
“I am sorry to hear that Deputy Peter Harwood has made the personal decision to tender his resignation from the office of Chief Minister of the States of Guernsey. However, it is recognised that he has chosen to do so to protect the reputation of the States of Guernsey.
“The Island’s position as an international finance centre is key to its success and Deputy Harwood has done what he considers to be the right thing in the light of recent media coverage. Guernsey’s finance industry maintains its strong performance and introducers of business to the Island continue to place it in the highest regard as an international finance centre.”
