Fourteen Guernsey residents recently accepted an exclusive invitation to join one of the world’s most exciting cruise brands when one of its vessels recently docked in the Island for the weekend.
The party were guests of Wayfarers World Travel in St Sampson’s and Azamara Club Cruises; the Azamara Quest spent one day docked in Guernsey as part of its European tour to Bordeaux.
Part of the Royal Caribbean group, Azamara Club Cruises specialises in providing exclusive ‘experience’ voyages around the globe, utilising smaller vessels which can dock in ports that are inaccessible to larger cruise liners. The company ensures passengers enjoy late night or overnight stays on more than half of all port visits. This means they get to enjoy each destination en route for longer, and can immerse themselves more fully in the local culture.
In addition, passengers are also treated to one ‘AzAmazing Evening’ per cruise, an authentic experience designed to give them a taste of local culture dating back hundreds of years. Examples include walking the red carpet to enjoy a private ballet performance at a theatre in St. Petersburg, and listening to an opera concert inside the confines of a Tuscan villa.
The group was accompanied onboard the Azamara Quest by Zoe le Flem and Martine Ozanne of Wayfarers World Travel. Guernsey resident, Colin de Jersey, was invited on to the vessel with his wife, Cynthia, and commented: “I fell in love with the ship – it’s excellent, and the food is out of this world! We look forward to enjoying a future cruise onboard one of the Azamara vessels.”
Jamie Blondel, Manager of Wayfarers World Travel in St Sampson’s, commented: “Cruising is a very popular experience with local residents in Guernsey and I am delighted that 14 of our cruise customers accepted Azamara’s invitation to spend time onboard recently. Being able to show them one of the stunning vessels first-hand and the incredible attention to detail the company pays to ensure its passengers have an exceptional time really does make a difference, and our guests certainly were impressed with what they saw.”
Sonia Limbrick, UK and Ireland Business Development Manager for Azamara Club Cruises, said: “We absolutely loved spending a day in Guernsey, and our passengers had a wonderful day exploring the Island – it’s a fabulous place! It was brilliant to be able to welcome onboard the party from Wayfarers World Travel and show them the Azamara experience, which I know they enjoyed very much. As a business it is very exciting to be working with the Online Regional Travel Group across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man – the company is a very important partner for us and I am looking forward to further developing our relationship for the benefit of our mutual clients over the coming years.”
