GUERNSEY Choral & Orchestral Society Musical Director Helen Grand will be handing in her baton at the society’s concert on Saturday 17 May2014.

Guernsey’s popular choral and orchestral ensemble presents a feast of operatic music featuring popular arias, choruses and overtures from the sumptuous operatic repertoire.

Professional soloists will be joined by local performers Casey-Joe Rumens, Tina James and the exceptional talents of some of the islands’ students. Hannah Wickham and Rhiain Taylor will be performing, as well as the youngest singers, the Guernsey Music Centre Junior and Intermediate choirs trained by Rachel Wright.

The orchestra, under the watchful baton of Michael Sullivan, will also demonstrate the richness of sound and orchestral prowess that has become its trademark, whilst it indulges its audience with opera’s greatest hits.

Helen Grand said;

‘Talk about going out on a high. I have loved my time with the Choral and Orchestral Society and enjoyed conducting a rich variety of music during the eight years of being Musical Director. This concert embraces some of the greatest choral and orchestral music around and guarantees a wonderful evening, not just for me, but for all.’

The concert takes place at St James on Saturday 17 May at 7.30pm. Tickets can be purchased from St James Box Office on 01481 711361 or via www.guernseytickets.gg
