The Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (RCIYC) is keen to sign up a few more yachts for the Heritage Frostbite Yacht Race Series which starts in January. The series consists of seven races and starts on the 11th January with the final event taking place on the 5th April and there is still time to register.
Now in its 12th year, the series has become a key fixture in the local yachting calendar. It is designed specifically to appeal to a cross-section of local yachtsmen. Yachts are divided into two classes, broadly differentiated by each yacht’s handicap.
Rear Commodore of the RCIYC David Aslett hopes to encourage a few more yachts to take part:
“It’s a great event. We would love to beat 2013’s total registrations, which numbered over 30 in total. With all minds on Christmas at the moment and all the eating and drinking it inevitably entails, what better way to blow the cobwebs away in the New Year.”
Each race is followed by a prize-giving at the Club. Prizes – which are sponsored by the Heritage Group (who have supported the Series for 12 years) – are awarded to the first three yachts in each class with a trophy presented to the overall series winner in each class after the final race.
Open to both members and non-members of the RCIYC, further information, a Notice of Race and Registration forms are now available on www.rciyc.com and www.heritage.co.gg.
