Insurance policies do cover extreme weather

ROSSBOROUGH is reassuring islanders that insurance policies do cover adverse weather conditions.

Posts on social media sites had suggested that driving whilst there is a red weather warning in place would invalidate car insurance policies.

‘This is not the case at all and we want to reassure islanders that motor insurance policies will remain in place. Anyone who is concerned should read the small print or check with their insurance adviser but we can reassure all Rossborough customers that all of our policies will still provide cover. However, we do reiterate Guernsey Police’s advice that islanders should not drive unless absolutely necessary,’ said R. A. Rossborough (Guernsey) Limited director Tony de Sousa.

Rossborough is expecting higher than normal numbers of claims as a result of the weather.

‘We have remained open during the bad weather and have already had a number of calls from customers about claiming for damage to buildings and cars and disrupted travel plans as a result of the snow and high winds,’ said Mr de Sousa.

‘Anyone wanting to make a claim should contact their broker for advice on what information they will need to provide. Rossborough has a dedicated claims team who will be working to process claims as quickly as possible.’
