INVESTEC Specialist Bank’s charitable trust has donated £250 to the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in its 140th year.
The money will go towards the cost of caring for the 200 animals that are currently housed at the Animal Shelter.
‘The GSPCA is extremely grateful to Investec for the charitable trust’s wonderful donation,’ said Steve Byrne GSPCA manager.
‘The Animal Shelter has over 200 animals on site and this donation will ensure that they have a brighter future having been rescued, brought in sick or injured, as a stray or gifted to the GSPCA.’
‘Without businesses like Investec, and their support, the GSPCA wouldn’t have carried out 140 years caring for animals in Guernsey and with their support we can ensure that we can continue the vital animal welfare work helping thousands of animals every year.’
Investec’s charitable trust has donated money to a range of causes including Guernsey Voluntary Service (GVS), Friends of Maison Maritaine and Guernsey Women’s Refuge.
‘We believe it is important to support the community in which we operate and this includes members working in organisations to protect the welfare of animals, such as the GSPCA. The charity is one that many islanders are fond of and we are pleased to be able to support it in its 140th year,’ said Stephen Henry, head of Investec Bank (Channel Islands) Limited.
The Animal Shelter is marking its 140 anniversary with GSPCA Purple Week between Monday 11 and Sunday 17 February and is asking people to wear purple and make a donation. For more information about GSPCA Purple Week visit www.gspca.org.gg
