Ipes UK’s Managing Director, Andrew Whittaker, has been working with the Business School at the University of Exeter to share his professional knowledge with their students.
The Business School runs a comprehensive careers programme and Andrew hosted a session on “Working in Banking and Finance: Private Equity Fund Services”.
The sessions are designed to enable Business School students to hear from an industry speaker about their career and to provide them with an opportunity to ask questions and seek advice.
Andrew as the Managing Director of Ipes UK, has overall responsibility for the management and development of the London office and has had an extensive financial services career. He addressed the audience of around 60 students telling them about his education right through to his role at Ipes today, whilst also being able to provide them with some key career tips and an insight into the Private Equity Funds industry.
He says, “The scheme set up by the University of Exeter Business School is a fantastic initiative and has benefits for both the students and the companies taking part. The scheme is a perfect fit for us, as it provides a platform to speak to the students directly and equip them with the knowledge they need to make an informed career choice. Ipes runs a Graduate Scheme so we are speaking to students who could be the employees of the future.”
Ipes launched its Graduate Scheme earlier this year and offers graduates the opportunity to develop a career in finance. The 12 month scheme provides the opportunity for the graduates to work in a number of teams across the business, enabling them to learn different aspects of the Administrators role.
Beth Cossey and Jenny Phillips, members of the Business School’s careers team, were delighted with Andrew’s talk. They said “Our careers programme provides an opportunity for industry speakers to inspire and inform the students with their knowledge and experience of working in a particular role, and our students really appreciate this.”
