DJ Fresh, the hugely-popular international drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep DJ, will perform at Fusion Nightclub on Friday 28 December.
DJ Fresh, aka Dan Stein, is a DJ, producer and music label owner and is one of the driving forces behind the success of drum ‘n’ bass, having led the scene for more than a decade working with a wide range of artists.
The superstar DJ recently scored his second UK number one with his single ‘Hot Right Now’ featuring UK pop sensation Rita Ora, arguably delivering the UK its first full drum ‘n’ bass Official Singles Chart number one. ‘Hot Right Now’ catapulted to the top spot in February having shifted a massive 128,000 copies and was the fastest selling single of 2012 at the time of charting.
This success follows his 2011 smash hit ‘Louder’ featuring Sian Evans, which also made it to the top spot in the UK charts, shifting over 140,000 copies in its first week on sale and went on to become the 25th biggest selling single of 2011.
In 2003 DJ Fresh left drum ‘n’ bass group ‘Bad Company’ for a solo career and formed a new label ‘Breakbeat Kaos’. The label released the drum ’n’ bass smash ‘Barcelona’ which peaked at #11 in the UK charts. Producing for The Pet Shop Boys and signing global phenomenon Pendulum were just some of DJ Fresh’s early label achievements.
DJ Fresh’s second album ‘Kryptonite’ reached the number two spot in the UK dance charts. A good helping of belting female vocals, a nod to dubstep and a blend of jump-up drum ‘n’ bass, the album encompassed DJ Fresh’s sound. Nothing epitomised this more than the third single ‘Gold Dust’. The song, along with its video, gathered yet more widespread acclaim for DJ Fresh, charting in both the UK dance charts and UK single charts at number seven and #24, respectively.
To round off 2010, DJ Fresh released ‘Lassitude’ which proved another mainstream smash and received Radio 1 ‘record of the week’ status on four different shows, including Sara Cox, MistaJam, Greg James and Dev.
“DJ Fresh is by far the biggest DJ Fusion Nightclub has hosted since the club opened three years ago,” said Fusion Nightclub and Luna Bar owner Adam Burroughs.
“It’s really important for us to bring over acts that our customers want to see and who they wouldn’t usually get to see unless they went to the UK or further afield. DJ Fresh is one of those acts. He’s had two number ones in the past 12 months and is taking the music scene by storm. Our customers want to see him and so we’re going to bring him over and we’re so excited to see his set.”
Tickets for the DJ Fresh and Messy MC set are priced at £25 from the Fusion Nightclub website ticket shop. Fusion Nightclub has released 100 tickets priced at £20 on Wednesday 21 November at midday on a first-come first-served basis.
