AN auction, due to take place tomorrow (Thursday March 14) at Martel Maides Auction rooms, has had to be postponed due to this week’s earlier extreme weather.

The auction, that included over 100 pieces of fine art from the late Professor Leonard Shaw’s collection, will now take place on Wednesday 20 March.

Its Lots include the piece of Royal memorabilia that was commissioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a wedding gift to their daughter, Princess Alice.

Director of Martel Maides Auctions, James Bridges, said: “We’ve been inundated with enquiries, both on and off island, so we made the decision to allow another week for the sale to take place, ensuring that all those who would like to view the pieces have time to do so.”

All the items can be found on www.martelmaidesauctions.com and Professor Shaw’s Lots are from number 1 to 107. The Fine Art auction will take place at Martel Maides’ Auction rooms in Cornet Street from 10am on Wednesday 20 March and viewings will be taking place on Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 from 8.30am till 5pm, Saturday 16 from 9am till 1pm, Monday 18 from 8.30am to 5pm and Tuesday 19 from 8.30am to 5.30pm.
