Nerine Trust has renewed its support for Guernsey choir, Johnny’s Angels, for a third year.
Formed in 2007, Johnny’s Angels was created to provide a few friends with a way to get together and sing each week. The group has since grown to a total of 19 female members who perform a wide genre of music from gospel to choral and pop/soul. The group also perform at corporate events, competitions and weddings and boast a repertoire of around 200 songs.
The contribution will cover costs for the choir to purchase sheet music, enter competitions and to hire St Paul’s Methodist Church for rehearsals.
Rob Habin, Nerine Group of Fiduciaries operations director, said: “Johnny’s Angels are a very talented group. We hope that the sponsorship will allow them to continue to entertain islanders and support worthwhile local charities.”
For the past five years, Johnny’s Angels have organised numerous charity concerts, during the summer and Christmas period, with proceeds going to both Les Bourgs Hospice and St Paul’s Methodist Church.
Choir member, Jo Cuthbertson, said: “We’ve had a very busy year so far, and have already taken part in numerous events which have been fantastic experiences for the choir and have allowed us to raise funds for local charities. We still have a number of events to look forward to over the coming months and we wouldn’t have this opportunity without Nerine’s support so we are immensely grateful to them.”
The group held their summer concert on Wednesday 4 September which raised funds for St Paul’s Methodist Church’s restoration and upkeep fund.
