The Guernsey Community Foundation has officially welcomed Jurat Stephen Jones to the position of Chairman of the Board.
Stephen takes over from Chris Sherwell who is stepping down after serving as Chairman for the past 18 months. Chris remains a keen supporter of the Foundation.
Stephen originally joined the Board of Directors in 2013. He has extensive experience and knowledge of the voluntary and charitable sectors, and his appointment will ensure that the Foundation’s work continues to target the areas in most need.
Former Chair, Chris Sherwell said:
‘I am delighted Stephen has accepted our invitation to become Chairman. Stephen’s name is synonymous with the voluntary sector in Guernsey and I am confident that he will successfully guide the Foundation through its next period of growth. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to work with the organisation and wish Stephen and the team every success. I remain keenly interested in the future development of the Foundation and continue to support its ambitions.’
Stephen Jones said:
’I have followed the progress of the Guernsey Community Foundation since its inception in 2010 and have been very impressed by the way that it has employed its skills and resources to great effect within the voluntary and charitable sector. I was pleased to be invited to serve as a Director and more so now to be Chairman of the Board. I look forward with confidence to the further development of the Foundation’s vision of promoting effective philanthropy and to helping the charitable sector function effectively.’
