Chartered Commercial Property Surveyors Jones Watts is ringing in 2013 with the new name of Watts & Co. Jurat Stephen Jones recently joined the Board in a non-executive capacity and the name change is aimed at providing clarity in identifying the firm with the people behind the business.
From a summer 2009 start-up, Watts & Co has quickly grown to become a well respected and successful local brand with excellence and client focus being at the heart of everything they do.
As Managing Director, Jo Watts explains: “The economic conditions meant it was a challenging time to start a business, but we are fortunate to have a very close knit team and an extremely loyal client base, which has enabled us to flourish. Being fully independent with a focus purely on the commercial market has also given us a clear USP. We know what we do well and we do just that – if people have a commercial property matter they need help with they know Watts & Co provides the complete package.”
Jo also believes that in today’s corporate age, Watts & Co’s ‘RICS’ status is highly valued. “This mark of professionalism, combined with our independence and local capability means we are receiving an increasing number of instructions from lending banks and international property firms who tend to be used by the larger institutions. As the UK firms don’t have a Guernsey presence, they find it highly beneficial to be able to draw on our local skill and knowledge.”
Being a relatively small practice also means every member of the team gets to know our clients on an individual basis. We take a lot of time to understand how each of them like to work and our ‘niche style’ and range of expertise means we can offer a personalised service on every level.
Jo adds: “Having such a distinguished member of the business community as Stephen joining the team will complement our offering further. We are very honoured he has joined the Board. He brings a tremendous wealth of business experience which I know will contribute greatly to the long term strategy and future success of the firm.”
