Islanders will be able to land a free pint at this year’s Guernsey Air Display and all in aid of charity, thanks to Liberation Group.
Liberation Group will be handing out vouchers for a free pint of Victory Ale to spectators along the seafront and to regulars in their pubs in a bid to raise funds for the RAF Association. The free pint vouchers will be redeemable at Liberation Group pubs throughout Guernsey with Islanders encouraged to make a minimum donation of £1 to the RAF Association.
The Guernsey Air Display promises to be a spectacular event this year with the world famous Red Arrows gracing the skies along with the Battle of Britain Memorial flight of a Lancaster bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane. Liberation Group is hoping that Islanders will really get into the spirit of the day and enjoy a spot of lunch and free pint at one of their many pubs and eateries.
The Group will be giving away 2,013 free pint vouchers in total to mark the RAF Association’s 70th anniversary year. Those not able to leave the office during the day should fear not as Islanders will still be able to join in the celebrations and redeem their vouchers after work.
Kenrick Brooks, Operations Director at Liberation Group is hoping the initiative will really take off: ‘The Air Display has always been a fun day for the Island and we wanted to add to the celebrations whilst also helping people to remember the pilots and aircrew who have given so much to their country. The RAF Association is a fantastic charity and we hope Islanders will join us in raising some money, as well as a glass, for a good cause.’
Victory ale is a sparkling blonde beer created using lager malt, which provides a hint of biscuit with an aromatic citric hop arising from the blend of Saaz and Hallertau varieties. Chilled and served straight from the keg, it will make the perfect accompaniment to a late summer afternoon enjoying the Air Display.
The RAF Association started in 1943 with the specific objective of providing welfare support to serving and former members of the RAF and their families. The charity benefits from money raised from the Air Display and Battle of Britain week.
The Guernsey Air Display will take place on 12th September this year between 11am and 1.15pm off the coast of St Peter Port.
