Rihoy & Son gallops in to support Lady Taverners fundraiser
A LADY Taverners’ fundraiser, which is a sell out every year, has a new main sponsor after Rihoy & Son stepped in to help.
Last month, chairman of the Guernsey Region of the Lady Taverners Vanda Slann was told that the previous sponsor of the Grand National Ladies’ Lunch was unable to commit and so she approached Rihoy & Son to ask if they could provide last minute support.
‘The day is always a huge success and we raise thousands of pounds which we use to give disadvantaged children, particularly those with disabilities, a sporting chance. Without sponsorship, we would have to use some of the money raised to cover the costs and so I am enormously grateful to Rihoy & Son for stepping in at the last minute to become our main sponsor. The support they have given, along with additional sponsorship from Graham Scott & Co and Coast Media, is absolutely invaluable,’ she said.
The event, which takes place on Saturday 6th April, will be attended by 300 ladies and each year the event sells out and always has a waiting list. The money raised is used locally by the Lady Taverners, who have in the past provided support to Le Rondin School and Guernsey Specials Gym Club and have recently made a joint donation with the Lord Taverners of £20,000 to the Friends of Sausmarez Park Playground Appeal.
Jeremy Rihoy, chairman of Rihoy & Son, said the company was happy to support a charity which worked so hard to help local youngsters.
‘The Guernsey region of the Lady Taverners is one of the highest fund-raising regions in the UK and since 1986 it has raised more than £350,000 to enhance the lives of local children with special needs. As a long-established Guernsey company, we are more than delighted to help a charity which works so hard to make a difference,’ he said.
