A raffle held by Isle of Sark Shipping (IOSS) has raised £2,000 which has been donated to Channel Islands Air Search (CIAS), to be put towards the cost of the new aircraft.
The draw took place at the CIAS hangar, with Peter Mourant, Chairman of the CIAS Trustees and Sarah Roberts from IOSS picking the winners. Also present from CIAS were Roger Dadd, Founder, Ian Larby and Roy Bullen, Trustees, Colin Ferbrache, Chief Officer, Julie Twist and Dave Hugo, Friends of CIAS, plus Colin Smith from IOSS.
Julie Mann, Director of Isle of Sark Shipping said: ‘There were some amazing prizes up for grabs including two return flights on Aurigny plus a flight in the new CIAS aircraft when it arrives later next year. We’re delighted that we were able to sell so many tickets and in the process hand over a large sum of money to the charity.’
Colin Ferbrache, Chief Officer of CIAS said: ‘Sark traditionally raises more money per head than any of the other Channel Islands when it comes to fund-raising for CIAS and I’m sure this amount will cement that fact! Fundraising for a new aircraft can be quite a daunting prospect, so the donation is most welcome and we remain on track to take possession of the new aircraft later next year.’
