This Summer, Tri-Ultimate Guernsey is back! – Only bigger and better. On Sunday 7th September islanders will be digging out their swimming goggles, pumping up their tyres and dusting off their trainers for an action packed day of summer fun in order to raise funds for local charity Hope for a Child.
Competitors will be racing as members of teams or as individuals through the waters of L’Ancresse Bay, around the island on bikes and along our northern coastal paths on foot, clocking up a total of 36.75 miles.
Following the success of last year’s first ever Tri-Ultimate Guernsey, this next contest is being eagerly anticipated. Over 90 people took part in 2013, raising a total of £13,700. This year the organisers are looking forward to the number of competitors, and the total money raised increasing. The event would not be able to take place without the kind sponsorship of Criteria Wealth Management.
‘The primary objective of the day is to raise money for Hope for a Child’s Education for girls project in Malawi, which aims to improve access to primary education, particularly for girls, while working with families and wider communities to improve household incomes’, said Miss Wild, Fundraising Events Manager for Hope for a Child.
Tri-Ultimate is designed to be fun for teams, as the route can be broken down into very achievable sections; and a real physical challenge for individuals who want to take on the whole 36.75 miles. The aim is for every participant to raise £100, and thanks to the sponsorship of local firm Criteria Wealth Management we can ensure that all money raised will be used by Hope for a Child for its work.’
‘Our hope for Tri-Ultimate Guernsey is that individuals and teams of work colleagues and friends enjoy a challenging but fun event while making a real difference to the lives of families in Malawi. We have teams entering from various places; Queens Road Medical Practice, The Love Church, Active Group, Tyrrell Dowinton Associates, Livingroom, Island FM and many more, as well as individual entrants!’
Individuals or teams of up to 10 can complete the challenge. There is an entry fee of £15 per person.
Criteria Wealth Management director Mark Penney encourages as many islanders as possible to take part.
‘Guernsey people are known for their love of sport and outdoor activities so this is the perfect way to push yourself physically, have fun and raise valuable funds for a local charity carrying out invaluable work in Africa. Criteria Wealth Management helps local people manage their wealth for the benefit of themselves, and in the longer term their families. It is our privilege to be able to assist Hope for a Child to help much less fortunate families in Africa towards an increased quality of life. We thank every participant for their contribution.’
