Collas Crill’s Spring Seminar Series starts with a focus on threats to trustees which could see Island professionals personally liable for significant sums of money.
The seminar takes place on consecutive days in Guernsey and Jersey this week.
Guest speaker Mark Hubbard, barrister at New Square Chambers and author of “Protectors of Trusts”, and Collas Crill group partner Edward Stone will review some significant recent developments affecting trustees and consider the practical steps they can take to better protect themselves against claims from third parties or beneficiaries at the event on 18 and 19 March.
Edward Stone said: “As the landscape in which trustees operate becomes more hostile, trustees need greater protection, especially when their personal liability can be invoked.”
The seminar will cover:
- the limitations of statutory protection
- protection afforded by limited recourse provisions
- using protectors can protect trustees
- seeking protection from the courts
- protection from liability by using a foundation trustee
Who should attend: This seminar will be of interest to trustees and trust company officers, family offices, and wealth professionals.
Where: Guernsey – Somerset Suite, Duke of Richmond Hotel, Tuesday 18 March from 4pm; Jersey – Rocco Tower Room, Radisson Hotel, Wednesday 19 June from 12 noon
