Ideas are welcomed for summer arts activities at Guernsey Information Centre (GIC) on North Esplanade. With Guernsey Arts Commission’s move of the art gallery to Candie Museum, the space at GIC is now available for use by local arts groups, schools and colleges, community groups and individuals for exhibitions, workshops and other arts projects.
The Arts Commission is looking for suggestions across a wide spectrum of performing and visual arts projects that engage the public in one way or another. Selection will be based on the quality and content of the idea and how local residents including children, young people and adults are involved , although not necessarily all in the same project.
Proposals are welcomed for 4-5 days of activity during the week as many of the weekends will be taken up with Seafront Sundays. However, shorter events or longer projects will also be considered.
The greenhouse@GIC will be free of charge to both the organisation using the space and to the public for accessing the activities. Projects will need to be self contained, and managed and promoted by the organisation involved. The light and airy gallery will be available from June through to August. Organisations will be expected to leave the space as they found it i.e. clean, tidy and any damage repaired.
Initial proposals need to be submitted to Guernsey Arts Commission by email to email@example.com by Monday 12 May and include:
- A description of the project, event or activities proposed
- Anticipated participants and audiences/visitors
- Your preferred dates and times
- Who will be managing the project
- How the project will be funded
- How you will be promoting the activity
- The anticipated outcomes
- Contact details
If selected, promotional material will need to include acknowledgement of GAC’s support and a GAC logo. A decision by the selection panal on whether your project has been successful will be made by Friday 16 May.
