As part of their 40 year anniversary celebrations, Swoffers have chosen ‘Every Child Our Future’ as the charity to benefit from their 40 hour pledge.
In June this year Swoffers, Guernsey’s largest estate agents, launched their search for a local charity with a project or projects that the team at Swoffers could contribute to and after receiving a number of nominations the directors
selected ECOF as the charity that would benefit most from the 40 hours.
Swoffers Managing Director, Matthew Henry said, “It was really difficult to choose a project to dedicate our time to because so many deserving charities applied. ECOF however stood out as a cause that all of the staff felt a connection with and we thought it was important for the whole team to be passionate about the chosen charity”.
Every Child Our Future (ECOF) is Guernsey’s newest charitable organisation set up in March of this year. Its main aims are to improve literacy and numeracy standards for Guernsey children and to actively promote a culture in which the community collectively takes responsibility for and participates in, the education of its children.
ECOF facilitate the specialised training of teachers and teaching assistants to provide additional support for children struggling with literacy or numeracy. However, the success of the scheme is ultimately strengthened by a bank of
volunteers like the Swoffers staff who have pledged to act as ‘mentors’ for a number of hours per week.
Denise Fallaize, Every Child Our Future Chairperson, said “We are delighted Swoffers have chosen our charity to receive their 40 hour pledge. It is so important for ECOF to have as we believe the more positive mextra teaching is likely to be”.
