The Specsavers Guernsey Youth Games is less than 90 days away. 15 assemblies have been completed in Primary Schools to promote the bi-annual initiative and we are 4 days away till all the application forms are due in.
The Specsavers Youth Games is an inter-parish sports competition for teams and individuals. It encourages all participants to try new sports they haven’t been involved with previously. The entrants are from Years 5 and 6 from local primary schools and represent ages 9-11.
The principle aim of the Games is to promote the value of sport to the young people of Guernsey and therefore the emphasis is on fun, fair play and the creation of a festival atmosphere so young people can experience the feeling of participating in a large-scale sporting event.
Every child who would like to participate in the initiative organised by the Guernsey Sports Commission, must ensure their form is delivered to their offices by 5pm on Friday 1st March. The application forms must be fully completed outlining the chosen sport each child would like to take part in.
Poster entries for the games must have also been handed in by this date. Only one entry is permitted by each child in year 5 & 6. The entry must be on one side of A4 paper, and the entry must have the child’s name and school on the back. The winner of the poster competition will receive up to £1000 from Specsavers for their school to spend on sports equipment.
