THE fourth beach touch tournament saw The John Waynes win three out of their four games to take the title.
The event, which was sponsored by Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, saw players divided into three teams and play in a round robin competition at Vazon.
‘We decided this year to hold the tournament after the CISX Channel Islands Championship to give the visiting players the opportunity to play on what is one of the island’s most popular beaches. There were a lot of tired legs but it was great to have a change of scene and play with new people, plus it also gave beachgoers the chance to see what touch is all about,’ said Guernsey Touch chair Katrina Bray.
‘We’ll look at ways that we can grow the tournament next year as it’s always a very sociable event as people enjoy the chance to combine their love of the beach and the game.’
In round one, The John Waynes lost their only game 3 -2 against Two fat, too furious but they won 3 – 1 against You got Chimpy’d. In the final game of the first round Two fat , too furious beat You Got Chimpy’d 3 – 2.
