The Collas Crill Rugby Festival in September will host a team of top international players.
The law firm has teamed up with the Guernsey branch of the children’s rugby charity Wooden Spoon to bring the Wasps Legends to the Island on 5 and 6 September.
The weekend culminates with a Wasps Legends vs Guernsey Siam Invitational match in a free family day at KGV.
Collas Crill partner Jason Green said: “The coaches and players coming over with the Wasps Legends are well known to all rugby fans.
“The majority played in the era of Wasps dominance in both the national and European leagues, several have only recently finished playing professional rugby and a number have Lions, as well as international, experience, a few having even been part of the England World Cup winning squad.
“Roger Uttley will be working with the minis in the morning and in him we are lucky to have someone who is prepared to share vast experience gained during an illustrious career that has included playing (including the undefeated Lions tour of South Africa in 1974) and coaching (being part of the coaching squad for the England team which reached the 1991 World Cup Final).”
The Wasps Legends team will include:
• Roger Uttley: British Lion and England player who also captained and coached the Lions
• Damian Cronin: Scotland / British Lion
• Andy Reed: Scotland / British Lion
• Tim Payne: England / British Lion
• Simon Shaw: England / British Lion (and World Cup winner)
• Andy Gomarsall: England / British Lion (and World Cup winner)
• Kenny Logan: Scotland (70 caps) and known to many from Strictly Come Dancing
• Paul Sampson: England
• Fraser Waters: England
• Paul Simpson: England
• Paul Volley: England
• Rob Lozowski: England
• Stuart Davis: Wales
• Peter Scrivener: England A and Barbarians
The weekend starts with the sell-out Richard Ogier Memorial dinner at the Duke of Richmond Hotel on Friday 5 which will see Wasps Legends host each table. The evening will be a tribute to the late Collas Crill partner Richard Ogier and a celebration of the camaraderie and friendships formed in the team sports that Richard loved so much.
On Saturday 6 September KGV will become rugby central in a fun packed family day. From 11 am coaches from the Wasps Legends including Roger Uttley, Simon Shaw and Andy Reed will work with any under 15s in Guernsey who want to be put through their paces.
The Guernsey Colts’ first game of the season kicks off at 1pm against visiting team the Pulborough Colts.
And at 3pm the main game kicks off: Wasps Legends vs a Guernsey Siam Invitational team.
All events are free, with donations to Wooden Spoon and Guernsey Mind, and there will be additional entertainment for children to make it a family day out.
