Try a new sport in the New Year
Looking for a New Year’s resolution, want to try a new sport or just meet some new people? Well you can try a new sport with the help from the Guernsey Sports Commission.
Oliver Tracey, marketing officer at the commission highlighted that “With the new year being a popular time for New Year’s resolutions, trying a new sport could not be any easier”. Our website features the contact details and photographs for over 45 different sports that are available to try here in the Bailiwick.
A selection of sports that are on offer include, Archery, Boxing, Cycling, Darts, Fencing, Karate, Kayaking, Paragliding, Pool, Rowing, Snooker, Softball, Touch, Ultimate and Windsurfing.
Each of the sports are member sports of the commission and have an established committee, national governing body and the relevant child protection procedures in place, necessary that we promote than any members of the community can try them.
Oliver also highlighted that “playing sport has a wealth of benefits, which includes improved confidence and social skills whilst relieving stress and tension. Taking part in regular physical activity has also been widely recognised to help participants maintain a healthy weight, improve their body shape and posture”.
