The Corporate Duck Race will once again feature at the Harbour Carnival on 29 August 2014, and businesses are invited to support fundraising efforts by pledging £200 to enter a rubber duck into the race.
Now in its third year, the Corporate Duck Race has proven to be extremely popular, with an impressive number of businesses taking part each time. Last year’s race was won by Terra Firma Capital Partners, but every sponsored duck is in with a chance to win.
Mike Ozanne of the Guernsey Round Table said: ‘The Corporate Duck Race always brings out friendly rivalries between Guernsey’s businesses, but we strongly discourage ‘fowl play’! We had over 80 ducks taking part last year and have already started receiving inquiries from companies wishing to get involved this year.’
Lisa Barnett, from RBC Wealth Management said: ‘This is our seventh year sponsoring the Harbour Carnival and we’re hoping it will be third time lucky for the RBC Corporate Duck! It is such a wonderful family event and we hope this year’s races and the generosity of islanders will help achieve an impressive sum for the Guernsey Sports Commission’s Street Sports programme.
As the main beneficiary of the event, the Guernsey Sports Commission will receive 50% of the funds raised, with the remaining 50% going to a range of other local causes supported by the Guernsey Round Table during the year.
If you wish to take part for the first time or re-enter your duck from last year, please visit the Harbour Carnival website – www.harbourcarnival.gg – where you’ll find all the details. The deadline for entries is 1 August 2014.
