The two Waitrose branches in Guernsey are inviting local music groups and choirs to come forward to apply for £1,500 worth of funding.
The grant is part of the John Lewis Partnership ‘Music Matters’ scheme, which invites branches to nominate a local musical activity for a significant one off contribution.
In order to choose the lucky project they will support, Waitrose are calling for submissions to be made to them direct by any local musical group in need of financial support for a specific project or initiative. Applications will need to have been made by 21 March, 2014.
Allen Edwards, branch manager for Waitrose Admiral Park, said: “Music is an important feature of life in every community and we have a long standing tradition of supporting projects of this sort. Waitrose is committed to supporting charities and good causes within the local community and this project gives us the chance to fund something really special.
“We welcome all local music groups who have a project in mind to get in contact and let us know what they are planning and how we can help” he said.
Two completed application forms from each branch will be forwarded to the UK where they will decide which applicants will receive funding.

Specific events or projects and all music types will be considered although the event should not be commercially self-supporting or routine events, e.g. school concerts, but application from all sections of the community are welcome.
