The Guernsey Sports Commission have teamed up with the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation and Liberation Management Limited to offer a selection of activities to keep young people active during the upcoming Easter Holidays. The programme, which offers those in Primary & Secondary School the chance to play different sports for only £1, will return from 9th-22nd April during the Easter Holidays.

Participants in school years Reception-Year 2 will get the chance to take part in two Fun & Fit Club sessions, whilst those in Year 3 – Year 6 will get the chance to sign up to 8 different multisports sessions. Ollie Dowding from the Guernsey Sports Commission highlighted that “these sessions introduce children to a range of different sports they may not have previously played in a fun, friendly and safe environment”.

Young people in Secondary School have the chance to try Archery, Basketball & Football for only £1. We are grateful for the support from the North Youth Club in helping us provide the Archery sessions.

Oliver Tracey, Marketing Officer at the Guernsey Sports Commission, highlighted the importance of this programme within the community as he said “some sports activities have a significant financial cost attributed to them, however the support we receive from our two sponsors ensures that a selection of activities are made available for only £1, thus ensuring price is not a barrier to participation”.

Roy Martel, the Secretary of the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation said, “the Trustees of the Foundation are delighted, in conjunction with Liberation Management Limited, to be able to continue their funding of the ever popular Quids in Sports programme. One of the prime purposes of the Foundation is to help young people to enjoy sport and this programme fits that purpose perfectly”.

David Rowlinson, Managing Director of Liberation management Limited, said “we are delighted to have the opportunity to co-sponsor this programme which provides an excellent opportunity for the young people of Guernsey to develop and thrive in a sporting environment.
