Tickets go on sale from this Wednesday for the latest Milton Morrissey production, the spookily entitled ‘When Darkness Falls.’
Set in Guernsey, the play will be performed by two leading West End actors including William Troughton, whose grandfather played the first ever regenerated Doctor Who.
Milton Morrissey have a reputation for bringing outstanding professional theatre to Guernsey including their most recent production The West End Men which has just completed a run at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End. But as producers Paul Morrissey and James Milton explain, ‘When Darkness Falls’ is an altogether different proposition: ‘Whilst we are probably best known for bringing large musicals and concerts to the Island, as men of the theatre, we are of course very keen on plays too. And by coincidence, Ghost Stories. When Darkness Falls is a Guernsey Ghost Story set in Guernsey, so where better to receive its world premiere than in Guernsey!’
The play centres around the fictional Guernsey Historical Society, where members have convened one dark and stormy night to hear a talk on the paranormal by a very special guest speaker. As the speaker guides the audience through five particular stories — all of which have a basis in Guernsey history — each more chilling than the last, it becomes clear that all is not what it seems and that sometimes these things are more than just stories.
Paul continues: ‘We’re absolutely delighted to be launching this thrilling theatrical experience in Guernsey and couldn’t think of a better place to captivate and terrify audiences before embarking on a tour of theatres throughout the UK. Maybe audiences will think differently about their Island and its landmarks once they’ve heard some of its dark and sinister history!’
‘When Darkness Falls’ will be at Beau Sejour from September 11-14 and tickets can be booked online at www.guernseytickets.gg or by calling 01481 747280.
